My Bedroom. Demonstrative Pronouns
Objectives:
· to review objects in a room
· to present and practiсe this, these, that, those
· to practise speaking and writing
Outcomes: by the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
· name the objects in a room
· recognize by ear and use this, that, these, those
· use grammar structures That / This table is.., those/these books are; I like this/that/those/these
· talk about things in a room
Procedure
1. Introduction. Greeting.
Pupils watch, sing and act «Hello» song.
Answer the questions: What’s your name? How are you? How old are you? Where are you from? How many beds (armchairs, tables, lamps, mats…) are there in your room?
2. Warm-up. Vocabulary revision.
1) Guess what word starts with l…. (lamp), w…(wardrobe), a…(armchair) etc. Teacher sticks flashcards of guessed words on the board.
2) Matching. Pupils match picture flashcards with the wordcards (they’re on the board) and write down the words in their notebooks.

Checking the task. Pupils go to the blackboard and stick the wordcards under the flashcards.

3. Presentation. Grammar.
1) Teacher points to the clock (by 1 finger) — I like that clock. (far)
Teacher points to the chair (by 1 finger) — I like this chair. (near)
Teacher points to the windows (by 5 fingers) — I like those windows. (far)
Teacher points to the books (by 5 fingers) — I like these books. (near)
2) Teacher uses presentation to explain grammar structures.

Look at the board, please.
How many apples are there? (T points to the picture).
Is it far (T shows the meaning using gestures and translates) or near to the hand?
We use This, when the object is one and near to the hand.
T does the same questions with other pictures. Sticks flashcards on the board. Ps listen and repeat words and sentences after the T few times.
3) T points to objects around the class, single ones or groups of objects, near you and far away. Pupils call out this, these, that or those as appropriate.

4. Practice
1) Oral comprehension. Listen and point. PB Ex. 1 p. 27
Pupils look at the pictures. T gives pupils the instructions what to do and plays the recording. Pupils point to the correct picture as they listen. T stops the recording after each part to check the answers.
2) Oral production. Ps talk about classroom.
Pupils take turns to make statements using like and this/ that/these/those about objects in the classroom.
I like this desk. I like those books. I like that computer.
Grammar structure is on the board.
3) Written production. Activity 2 p. 27 (WB)
Pupils complete the sentences with the words in the box (this, that, these, those)
5. Summing up.
Game «Catch your word» (with a ball).
T says the pronoun in the singular and Ps are to name the pronoun in the plural or T says words in the TL and Ps are to say them in English (or vice versa).
